Adiós to Spain

A few days ago, we said adiós to Spain in the Canaries. We stayed in Tenerifé, Santa Cruz and enjoyed near perfect weather with a daily average of 28-30 degrees. Our days were filled with exploring, working with our laptops, and visiting the beaches. The laid back pace of life in the island was much welcomed, particularly coming from the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona... it felt like we could breathe and think.

One of the things we appreciated about Spanish culture was their value on relationships and socialization. The cities we visited were built around plazas where people gather to sit, relax, and converse with one another. The local parks were filled with various people engaging in activities throughout the day and into the evening. 2-hour siestas enable employees to meet up in cafés and restaurants to simply chat with each other. We already miss the late nights and dinners at 10:00 p.m.

Needless to say, we enjoyed our experience in Spain not only for the sights we've visited but particularly for the interactions we've had with the friendly locals and fellow travellers we've met along the way. Our time in Tenerifé has prepared us for the next chapter in our travels to Italy.

Your daughter sounds quite adventurous Leanne! I thought about running with the bulls but decided against it for the sake of potential insurance complications 😉 ...and the fact that we were a couple of months too late. I hope your daughter enjoyed the country!

My daughter nannied in Spain twice, in different areas, so I had heard about the break midday and them eating late. She also told me she would go for a run at about 10:00/10:30 pm. which bothered me but she said it was fine 😉 She also was going to run with the bulls which I'm very glad didn't happen! Your pics look awesome 😀 I'm sure your amount of walking this year will put us all to shame 😉
